What is microfilm

Microfilm is a process that reduces original paper records down to a size, the images cannot be read unaided by the human eye. This compression means that there is up to a 99% saving against traditional storage.

This master film uses a silver emulsion on a polyester base, when properly processed and stored it has a life expectancy of approximately 500 years. Its polarity is negative and because of its high resolution and ability to recognise varying colours and contrast, this film has a greater tonal range, making it suitable for capture of general office documentation, manuscripts, books, engineering plans and computer generated data.(COM)
